Bryan Fuller Dreams Of ‘Silence Of The Lambs’ Limited Series Starring Mads Mikkelsen As Hannibal & Zendaya As Agent Starling

Bryan Fuller‘s movie “Dust Bunny” is screening at the Toronto International Film Festival and reunites him with “Hannibal” actor Mads Mikkelsen. He’s now musing on the idea of having Mikkeleson back in the Dr. Hannibal Lecter role for a limited series adaptation of “The Silence of the Lambs” with Zendaya in the prime part of Agent Clarice Starling, previously played by Jodie Foster in the 1991 pic.

Chatting with ScreenRant in an interview at TIFF, Fuller said, “My dream project is to do a limited series of ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ with Mads and Zendaya as Clarice Starling. If I could put anything out into the universe, I would put that into the universe,” Fuller said of his ambitions to revive “Hannibal” with Mikkelsen.

You might be asking yourselves, “Wasn’t there already a ‘Silence of the Lambs’ series?” And you would be right, as CBS was behind the show “Clarice,” which focused on FBI Agent Clarice Starling (played by Rebecca Breeds) from Jenny Lumet and Alex Kurtzman, that aired back in 2021. The show ultimately failed to find an audience and didn’t have episodes beyond a single season, so trying it a second time with the ability to actually use Dr. Lecter (“Clarice” was restricted) would be the way to go.

The idea of casting Zendaya is an interesting one, for sure, but we have no idea if that’s an idea that will interest her, as the in-demand actress has been limiting how many projects she makes. However, she is in the right age range to play the rookie FBI Agent, trying to help find Buffalo Bill, a brutal serial killer who is kidnapping and killing women for their skin.

Audiences will have a bit of a wait for Fuller’s “Dust Bunny,” which also features Sigourney Weaver and Rebecca Henderson in the cast, as it is heading to theaters on December 5.
