'The Witcher' Season 3: Mature Fantasy Series Returns Summer 2023

Netflix is very much doubling down on the popularity of their fantasy series “The Witcher” led by hunky British actor Henry Cavill. Netflix is not only getting ready to debut the third season of the flagship show but are also behind a prequel spinoff series called “The Witcher: Blood Origin” that sees actress Michelle Yeoh of “Everything Everywhere All At Once” and “Shang-Chi & Legend of The Ten Rings” among the cast.

As audiences and hardcore fans alike have been dying to know when the third season of the mature fantasy series will arrive, the streaming service announced at Tudum this weekend with the help of Cavill that the series is set to come back in the summer of 2023. This means we won’t have to wait too long to see the monster hunter and his cohorts return to fight various creatures and threats.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Polish fantasy novels or the video game franchise they spawned:

“The Witcher” follows the story of Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than monsters and beasts.

There had been chatter that Netflix is aiming to shoot the next two seasons back-to-back, which would certainly take up a huge chunk of Cavill’s schedule for the foreseeable future.

Cavill is currently attached with a major role in Lionsgate‘s “Highlander” reboot from director Chad Stahelski (“John Wick” franchise). He’s also set to star in Matthew Vaughn‘s pricey spy action pic “Argylle” at Apple TV+ which could land subsequent sequels if successful, and his future as Superman remains unclear as Warner Bros. Discovery reportedly wants to prioritize the DC Comics hero. We’ll also keep our fingers crossed that villainous CIA Agent August Walker makes a cameo or flashback appearance in the upcoming “Mission: Impossible” sequels.
