'Mission: Impossible 7' & 'A Quiet Place Part II' Heading To Paramount+ After 45-Days On The Big Screen

Following WarnerMedia‘s controversial day-and-date release model, which will see all 17 of their films in 2021 dropping on both HBO Max and in theaters at the same time, Paramount Pictures will attempt to shorten their theatrical window for upcoming sequels such as Christopher McQuarrie‘s “Mission: Impossible 7” and John Krasinski‘s “A Quiet Place Part II.” According to Deadline, the pair of blockbusters will be dropped on their streaming service Paramount+ after spending 45-days in theaters. It’s definitely a sign of shortening windows and a trend that may impact the entire film industry if/when it continues. The move illustrates that Paramount is still committed to the theatrical industry, but tonight’s massive CBS-Viacom/Paramount+ presentation shows they are also looking to the future ahead.

While plot details are scarce, we know that Cruise’s Ethan Hunt will live to the end of the seventh film, the spy franchise, as they have a movie number eight ready to go. “Mission: Impossible 7” was originally planned by Paramount to shoot back-to-back with “Mission: Impossible 8,” but reportedly, due to Tom Cruise’s press schedule for “Top Gun: Maverick,” there will be a bit of production pause between the two massive spy blockbusters. It’s worth mentioning that it has been an extremely tough production for the cast and crew as they started shooting at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to a halt in filming almost a year ago after the outbreak in Italy put a pause on their plans to shoot sequences in Venice and Rome.
